Tessa Curtin

MFTi – Therapist

Tessa, our talented and intelligent intern, has completed all the course work at Brigham Young University and will soon graduate with a Masters degree in Marriage and Family Therapy. We are lucky at Amber Creek to be a part of her internship as she brings the most current research and an enthusiasm that is easy to see in her work with her clients. BYU is also where she received her Bachelor of Science in Family Services. When you work with Tessa, one of the first things you notice is how secure, connected, and accepting she is. She works hard to create an environment where you feel safe being open and vulnerable so that healing can occur. She believes that empowering her clients to recognize their own innate power allows them to more easily reach their goals, have new healing experiences, and increase their resources in order to create long-term change. She sees that the difficulties people have are not indicative of personal failure or weakness, but rather adaptive coping strategies, deserving of compassion and understanding.

Although Tessa is relatively new as a therapist, her training has offered her extensive experience. She has worked with a variety of clients and has had success helping people with such issues as depression, anxiety, relational issues, eating disorders, sexuality, and faith transitions. Tessa is genuine, engaging, and compassionate, which you will feel as she guides you through the therapy process in a collaborative way.

Her therapy is based on research-backed methods including mindfulness-based practices, experiential, emotionally focused, family systems, and narrative therapies. If you are looking for a non-judgmental therapist who responds with compassion no matter the struggle, give Tessa a try.
