Abby Collum, CMHC-I
Abby believes that meaningful therapy begins with creating a space where clients feel genuinely seen, heard, and accepted. She strives to meet each client where they are, building a collaborative relationship grounded in authenticity, compassion, and consistency. Her goal is to help clients feel empowered as they navigate life's challenges and work toward lasting change.
Born and raised in Texas, Abby brings a warm, welcoming approach to counseling while appreciating the diverse backgrounds, cultures, and experiences that shape each person's story. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of North Texas and is currently completing her Master of Science in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University.
Over the past two years, Abby has been involved in research and public health initiatives focused on reducing maternal mortality, suicide, and overdose deaths during her work with the State of Utah. This work has given her a unique understanding of trauma, grief, substance use, and the complex factors that influence mental health.
As a counseling intern, Abby is especially passionate about working with adolescents and young adults navigating life transitions, trauma, substance use, behavioral concerns, anxiety, depression, and identity development. She believes every client has unique strengths and resilience, and she is committed to helping them build on those strengths to create meaningful, lasting growth.
Outside of the office, Abby enjoys spending time with her husband and their dogs. You can often find her skiing, hiking, practicing yoga, tending to her garden, or curled up with a good book.
