Remington Bassett, CMHC – Therapist
Remington has a strong ability to attune to the clients he works with and using a collaborative process, has helped them recognize and change their unhealthy thought processes. Remington grew up living in different parts of the world which has given him a unique appreciation for different cultures, backgrounds, and beliefs. He also took an untraditional path to becoming a therapist.
He earned his Bachelor’s degree from Brigham Young University in Finance and worked in the business industry for 3 years prior to changing his profession. He then decided to pursue his Masters degree in Mental Health Counseling at the University of the Cumberlands. His love for working with people, particularly the family system, prompted his shift to therapy.
Remington specializes in working with people who struggle with mood disorders such as depression and anxiety. He also has expertise treating ADHD, trauma, and substance abuse. He excels in supporting and healing the family system and even when working with an individual he understands that external influences impact everyone. He has sought additional training in attachment theory and continues to grow, finding new ways to refine his clinical skill. Remington’s favorite part of the job is witnessing clients find love for themselves and watching how that changes their interaction with their world. When Remington is not at work he loves spending time with his wife and little children. You can find them hiking or doing something active outside together. He also enjoys golf and watching or playing sports. He is forever in the pursuit of finding the perfect cheese enchilada.
