Tucker Reynolds, CMHC- Therapist
Regardless of how prepared individuals believe themselves to be, everyone experiences situations in life that leave them feeling derailed, unable to think or feel beyond the moment. Life often places people in circumstances they did not choose, where, as Shakespeare wrote in Twelfth Night, they have “greatness thrust upon them.” Some individuals may not recognize when they’ve become stuck and may develop a fear of what comes next. Others may not realize that their judgments—about themselves or others—are shaping their perceptions of the world and the future. Many struggle with the limits of control, finding it difficult to accept that what “should have happened” was never theirs to determine.
Tucker utilizes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) extensively and is grounded in evidence-based practices. His approach provides a realistic yet supportive path to identifying and restructuring the incongruent elements of a person’s beliefs, thoughts, feelings, and behaviors. His goal is to help clients gain a clearer understanding of who they are and what to do with that awareness.
Tucker's personal and professional journey has naturally led him to the counseling profession. With a decade of service in the military, the highlight of his time was a combat deployment to Afghanistan—an experience that revealed both the heights and depths of human capability. Before entering graduate studies, he worked as a CPS investigator for DCFS, developing expertise in applied behavioral and social psychology, family and environmental systems, and developmental trauma.
His post-graduate experience includes work in private practice treating a wide range of family dynamics, as well as serving as a first responder crisis clinician with the Salt Lake City Police Department. He also contributed to public mental health by working in emergency receiving at the University of Utah’s acute psychiatric hospital.
Tucker’s academic foundation began with a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology from the University of Utah, where he earned an emphasis in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience and completed pre-med coursework. This education provided a deep scientific understanding of how people think, feel, and behave. He went on to earn a double Master of Science degree from Rocky Mountain University of Health Professions, a CACREP-accredited institution, in both Clinical Mental Health Counseling and School Counseling.
Tucker is independently licensed and holds the highest levels of credentialing in the field of clinical mental health counseling. He is recognized as both a Nationally Certified Counselor (NCC) and a Certified Clinical Mental Health Counselor (CCMHC) by the National Board for Certified Counselors.
