Michael Voss D.O. graduated from the Chicago School of Osteopathic Medicine in 2005 and completed his residency in Psychiatry at the University of Illinois at Chicago Medical Center (UIC) in 2009. During his residency, Dr. Voss was awarded Teaching in Excellence status for psychiatry by the medical students of UIC. He also served as Chief Resident from 2008 to 2009, supervising a large training program of over 40 residents. Following residency, Dr. Voss joined the faculty of the University of Utah at the University Neuropsychiatric Institute (UNI) as a full-time inpatient clinician. During his first year at UNI, he was again awarded for excellence in teaching by the psychiatry residents in training at the University of Utah. Dr. Voss continues to work at UNI at present.

Dr. Voss’s training as an Osteopathic physician provided him with a philosophy of treating the whole patient, and he was taught the critical importance of listening to the patient to achieve the best outcomes. Throughout his training and work to date, Dr. Voss has always made education and teaching a priority. He now brings that commitment to practice through his clinical work – ensuring his clients are always made aware of the best available treatments and are provided the best possible support so they can navigate their own care with confidence and peace of mind. Focusing on patient education, collaborative care and developing a strong therapeutic alliance, Dr. Voss is able to provide the best possible care, regardless of the challenges present in each individual’s circumstance and diagnostic history.

While Dr. Voss finds all aspects of adult psychiatric practice intriguing, his special areas of interest include maternal depression, first-episode psychosis, post-traumatic stress disorder, obsessive-compulsive disorders and adjustment disorders.
