Jaricka Blundell Lau, DNP Intern

Jaricka Blundell Lau is a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner student. She is pursuing a Doctorate at the University of Utah. While at Utah Valley University, she received her bachelor’s degree in nursing. For the past three years, she has worked in an outpatient behavioral health clinic at the University of Utah. She is a member of the American Psychiatric Nursing Association. She is working on a certificate in EMDR through the Trauma Recovery, EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs.

Under the supervision of Dr. ElLois Bailey, she is providing therapy at Amber Creek Counseling. Due to her being a student, services are provided at a discounted rate. She is seeing teens and adults for individual psychotherapy. In the DNP program at the University, she has been trained in CBT, DBT, psychodynamic therapy, humanistic therapy, and motivational interviewing. After completing EMDR part I training, she continues to receive EMDR consultation through Life Stone Counseling.

In the six-year position of a Thoracic ICU nurse, she helped her patients ease into life transitions with chronic illnesses such as heart transplants, pulmonary disease, COVID, and end-of-life care. Through her personal journey, she has sought a holistic approach to healing. She places importance on self-guided learning and collaboration. The preceptorship with Dr. Bailey has helped Jaricka develop an approach to balancing mental health, functional medicine, and a therapeutic lifestyle to achieve wellness.

In her free time, she likes to spend time with her husband and children. She enjoys reading, painting, gardening, and hiking.
